There's some superb viewing from today as new drama The Old Man stars Jeff Bridges and Amy Brenneman, Kenneth Branagh leads the cast as Boris Johnson in Michael Winterbottom’s This England, while Ana de Armas plays Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe in Blonde.

The Old Man, Disney+

Based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Thomas Perry, The Old Man is a drama that centres on Dan Chase (Jeff Bridges), who absconded from the CIA decades ago and lives off the grid.

He 's living a quiet life until an assassin arrives and tries to take Chase out. As a result, the old operative learns that, to ensure his future, he must reconcile his past.

The FBI’s Assistant Director for Counterintelligence (John Lithgow) is then called on to hunt Chase down because of his complicated past with the rogue fugitive.

As well as Bridges and Lithgow, this show's superb cast also includes Amy Brenneman and Alia Shawkat. Here we are, talking about the show:

Neven's Portuguese Food Trails, 8.30pm, RTÉ One

This week, Neven Maguire begins in the Portuguese capital of Lisbon, where he meets chef Hugo Freitas Araujo (below) at Solar Dos Presuntos, a restaurant renowned for its traditional local cuisine.

Neven then heads north to the city of Aveiro and visits a factory where seafood is painstakingly processed and canned by hand.

The Good Fight, 9.35pm, RTÉ2

The long-running The Good Wife sequel continues. Great to see Alan Cummings back last week as Eli Gold!

This time around, Joy Grubick, a pre-trial service officer, interviews Cary's colleagues to determine if he should remain behind bars.

Meanwhile, a client's case ends up in Christian arbitration.

This England, 9.00pm, Sky Atlantic

This six-part drama is written by Michael Winterbottom and Kieron Quirke, directed by Michael Winterbottom, Julian Jarrold, Anthony Wilcox and Mat Whitecross and stars Kenneth Branagh.

The series is based on Boris Johnson’s tumultuous first months as UK Prime Minister, and traces the impact on the country of the first wave of the Coronavirus pandemic.

The drama takes viewers inside the halls of power, as Johnson grapples with Covid-19, Brexit, and a controversial personal and political life.

The events are interwoven with stories from the experts and scientists racing against time to understand the virus; the doctors, nurses and care-home workers on the frontline; and ordinary people whose lives were thrown into turmoil.

Train, 9.00pm, Sky Sci-Fi

This Korean thriller's about a hard-hitting detective who fearlessly dives into his work. Seo Do-won (Yoon Shi-yoon) is relentless when it comes to bringing criminals to justice.

Willing to take on any case, no matter how hard, Do-won has made a name for himself as a man who gets the job done.

But when the woman he loves becomes the latest victim of a serial killer, his world completely changes.

Mysteriously able to move between parallel universes, Do-won now lives in both worlds as a man who must pay for the sins of his father in one, and as a man forced to live a precarious life because of those sins in the other.

Nine Perfect Strangers, 10.00pm, Channel 4

Nicole Kidman leads a cast that also includes Melissa McCarthy and Michael Shannon.

This drama’s based on the bestselling novel by Liane Moriarty, set in a boutique health-and-wellness resort where stressed city dwellers are seeking a path to a better way of living.

Watching over them during their 10-day retreat is the resort's mysterious director Masha, a woman on a mission to reinvigorate their tired minds and bodies.

But these nine strangers have no idea what is about to hit them.

Cneasaithe, 9.30pm, TG4

Broadcaster Máirtín Tom Sheáinín embarks on a trip around Ireland to ascertain if faith healing is still practised around the country.

He discovers the many reasons the gift of healing can be bestowed on one - from being a seventh son of a seventh son to someone whose father died before they were born.

Máirtín encounters those who are sceptical of the practice and those faith healers who are still practicing today.

Blonde, Netflix

After a lot of hype and media interest, this no-holds-barred biopic takes a deep dip into the life of a genuine Hollywood legend. It looks fascinating.

Based on the bestselling novel by Joyce Carol Oates, this is a boldly reimagined fictional portrait of Hollywood legend Marilyn Monroe and stars Ana de Armas.

The film also includes reenactments of scenes from Monroe movie classics such as The Seven-Year Itch and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.

But even in these more familiar moments, Blonde reevaluates the actor’s inner life in this fictional account of her tumultous time as a superstar.

It’s the story of a scarred and scared young woman trapped inside the body - and career - of a Hollywood icon.

Eat the Rich: The GameStop Saga, Netflix

This humorous documentary series looks entertaining. Well, the trailer looks promising!

It follows a group of millennial misfits who banded together online to rescue their beloved GameStop from the clutches of Wall Street bigwigs, in a viral David v Goliath story for the 21st century.

Inside the World’s Toughest Prisons: Season 6, Netflix

Wrongfully convicted former inmate Raphael Rowe continues his investigation of formidable prisons around the world.

This time around he takes a look at the custodial climate in places such as Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cyprus, Greece and Moldova.
