Colin Farrell is to be honoured in the US for his work as an ambassador for the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation.
Entertainment trade publication the Hollywood Reporter says the Dubliner will be honoured alongside fellow actors Sheryl Lee Ralph and Charlize Theron at the Elizabeth Taylor Ball to End AIDS in West Hollywood Park on Thursday 15 September.
Theron and Ralph are being honoured for their work for the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project and the Diva Foundation, respectively.
In a statement, Farrell said: "I was lucky enough to know Elizabeth and in my time as her friend, it was so clear to me how important she felt her work with HIV/AIDS was.
"I am now thoroughly honoured to help in keeping her message and the importance of her mission alive. I look forward to celebrating Elizabeth at this year's gala."
The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation was founded by the screen icon in 1991 to "pursue social justice and human rights for people with HIV/AIDS". Taylor passed away in 2011 at the age of 79.
