RTÉ radio stars Marty Whelan, Tracy Clifford and Sarah McInerney are among the radio presenters who have landed nominations on this year's IMRO Radio Awards shortlist.

Back in person after two years of broadcasting virtually, the entire island of Ireland broadcast community will gather on 7 October to announce the winners. There will be 41 Awards handed out on the night, with each category announcing a Gold, Silver and Bronze winner, as well as the Stations of the Year. Nominees are recognised across all Irish networks including independently owned and run stations.

RTÉ has 38 nominations including one for Marty in the Morning on RTÉ Lyric FM in the Music & Entertainment Presenter of the Year category, and RTÉ 2FM's Tracy Clifford is up for an award in the General Music Programme section.

RTÉ Radio 1's Yuri Filatov vs. Sarah McInerney on Drivetime is up for Radio Moment of the Year alongside Brenda's Fight Continues (C103), Francie & David 'Hold onto your Hat!' (Ocean Fm), Heroin Meant My Late Son Couldn't Recognise Me-The Neil Prendeville Show (Cork's RedFM) and Santa Calls Lebanon-KC & Rossin the Morning (Cork's 96FM)

Also on RTÉ Radio 1, Ray Cuddihy is up for Specialist Music Broadcaster of the Year, while Bryan Dobson received a nod for News Broadcaster of the Year.

Journalists Cian McCormack and John Cooke are both nominated for News Reporter of the Year for their work on the station.

RTÉ Lyric's Movies & Musicals: Sondheim Special and RTÉ Radio 1's Mise Freshin' are nominated in the Music Special/ Music Event category alongside The Arts House-Up Cork Like! (Cork's 96FM), The Great Irish Songbook (BBC Radio Ulster) and The Top 10 Countdown (LMFM)

There was more good news for RTÉ Lyric FM as Liz Nolan is up for Radio DJ of the Year as well as 98FM's Brian Maher, Dee Woods from Radio Nova, Lorraine Murphy from Cork's 96FM and iRadio's Sharron Lynskey.

The prestigious event will take place at Lyrath Estate, Kilkenny, on Friday, 7 October, 2022, with Dermot Whelan back on hosting duties.

The 2022 IMRO Radio Awards Hall of Fame will be announced at a special gathering ahead of the main awards on Tuesday, 13 September where this year's inductees will be revealed.
