UK-born, Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter and producer Luke Sital-Singh has released Can't Get High, from his forthcoming debut album, Dressing Like A Stranger. We asked him the BIG questions . . .

Sital-Singh will support Passenger on his European Tour including dates at Vicar Street, Dublin on 24 August and Ulster Hall, Belfast on 25 August.

Can't Get High was co-written by Ben Cramer, a.k.a. Old Sea Brigade, who previously collaborated with Luke on his 2020 EP All The Ways You Sing In The Dark.

Luke says the song is about, "Looking for meaning in the rubble of a failed relationship. Going over memories, trying to find the positives when things go wrong."

Tell us three things about yourself . . .

I live in LA. I don’t like it when people play bongos in the park. All I think about is pizza.

How would you describe your music?

Really exceptional music but a little sombre at times.

Who are your musical inspirations?

Right now, I get mainly inspired by producers and mixers. People like Blake Mills, Shawn Everett, and Tchad Blake.

What was the first gig you ever went to?

The Offspring at Wembley Arena! All I remember is my mate’s mum reading a book with a torch the whole show.

What was the first record you ever bought?

Will Smith - Just The Two Of Us. I can still do the entire rap. But I won’t. So don’t ask.

What’s your favourite song right now?

Go Easy, Kid by Monica Martin. A friend played me this recently and it knocked my socks off. Especially the version featuring James Blake.

Favourite lyric of all time?

"I could drink a case of you and I’d still be on my feet" - Case Of You, by Joni Mitchell. Ooof! Gets me every time.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Late For The Sky - Jackson Browne. It’s also my plane crash song. And my Vecna song for you Stranger Things fans.

Where can people find your music/more information?

My website or just about any social media thing. Just search for lukesitalsingh.
