EastEnders star James Bye is the fourteenth celebrity contestant taking part in this year's Strictly Come Dancing, the BBC has announced.

Bye, who plays Martin Fowler on the BBC soap, joins wildlife cameraman and presenter Hamza Yassin, X Factor runner-up and broadcaster Fleur East, former Arsenal and England captain Tony Adams, Nova Jones star Molly Rainford, Ted Lasso's Ellie Taylor and singer Matt Goss for the 20th season of Strictly on BBC One.

DJ Tyler West, Paralympic champion and broadcaster Ellie Simmonds, comedian Jayde Adams, Loose Women panellist Kaye Adams, presenter and actress Kym Marsh, actor Will Mellor and broadcaster Richie Anderson are also taking part.

Commenting on signing up for the show, Bye said: "I'm not known for my shimmy or my twinkle toes - in fact my kids regularly laugh at my dad dancing - but it's an honour to be asked and I'm going to give it my best shot.

"There are some huge dance shoes to fill and it's truly exciting to follow in the footsteps of some amazing EastEnders talent. I'd love to do everyone proud."

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One in the autumn.
