Former Arsenal and England captain Tony Adams is the eleventh celebrity contestant taking part in this year's Strictly Come Dancing, the BBC has announced.

He joins Nova Jones star Molly Rainford, Ted Lasso's Ellie Taylor, singer Matt Goss, DJ Tyler West and Paralympic champion and broadcaster Ellie Simmonds for the 20th season of Strictly on BBC One.

Comedian Jayde Adams, Loose Women panellist Kaye Adams, presenter and actress Kym Marsh, actor Will Mellor and broadcaster Richie Anderson are the other contestants announced to date.

More contestants will be announced in the coming days. Presenter Helen Skelton is tipped to be among those taking to the dancefloor.

"To say I'm excited is an understatement - the lure of the sequins and the call of the salsa has me swapping my battered old football boots for a set of Strictly soft shoes," said Adams.

"[I] Am absolutely thrilled to be giving it my all on this year's 20th anniversary of Strictly Come Dancing. I can't wait to meet my partner - God help her - and start the dancing."

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One in the autumn.
