Irish singer-songwriter Cat Lundy has released her new single, Scars. We asked her the BIG questions . . .

A classically trained singer at the Royal Academy of Music in London, Cat had a residency in The Bitter End In New York and played regularly in LA's famous House of Blues before its closure.

She worked with producer Ger McDonnell (U2, Kasabian, The Cure, and Martha Wainwright) on Scars.

Speaking about the song, she says: "Scars is a song about how each heartbreak leaves a mark on you. It's for everyone who has experienced pain before."

Tell us three things about yourself?

I write everything myself, usually just start with the guitar and go from there. My producer, after he first heard my music, said 'wow Cat you are better than Adele’ (the biggest compliment ever). I live for music, it’s my life, I eat, breath and sleep it!

How would you describe your music?

My music is heavily influenced by the complexities of love and relationships, I am not defined by one specific genre, I am an eclectic mix of pop, blues, and soul!

Who are your musical inspirations?

Bob Dylan (the original storyteller). I love Lana Del Rey and Jessie Reyez. I am a classically trained opera singer, so I also love The level of emotion Maria Callas would put into each performance!

What was the first gig you ever went to?

My mum took me to a Bob Dylan tribute concert, I was hooked straight away.

What was the first record you ever bought?

My parents got me the soundtrack album to The Bodyguard. I was obsessed with Whitney Houston and her voice! I was this tiny little girl, and I would belt out the songs for whoever would listen!!

What’s your favourite song right now?

I am loving House on Fire by Mimi Webb. Also, a song I put on repeat is Before Love Came to Kill Us by Jessie Reyez.

Favourite lyric of all time?

‘She wears an Egyptian ring that sparkles before she speaks’ - Bob Dylan.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Going to have to say my new song Scars, I hope everyone loves it as much as I do
