Ahead of the All-Ireland Hurling Final Up for the Match is back, there's the return of The Hit List and Superman and Lois, classic Bette Davis, and some more TV clangers with David Walliams . . .

Up for the Match, 9.45pm, RTÉ One

It’s that time of the year again – though obviously a lot earlier than we're accustomed, with hurling's Big Day Out happening about 10 weeks before its traditional September showdown.

In stusio, Des Cahill and Jacqui Hurley present a preview of tomorrow's All-Ireland Hurling Final between Limerick and Kilkenny, with the former seeking a third consective win.

Jacqui and Des will be joined by a host of well-known faces as well as personalities from the competing counties. Plus, one lucky viewer will win one of the last pair of tickets available for the match.

Trom, 10.00pm, BBC Four

Even if you missed last week's opening double-bill, you can still take a look at this pretty gripping (and very scenic) drama set on the Faroe Islands.

Last week saw - spoiler alert - animal rights activist Sonja washed up and drowned, but that's only the start of the intrigue.

First up in this week's two episodes, Karla encounters new evidence that makes her question everything. Hannis tries to gather the clues that Sonja left behind.

Then, at 10.40pm, a press conference concludes that Sonja's death was an accident, but Hannis discovers that she could not have died the way the police claim. In Danish and Faroese, with subtitles.

It'll Be Alright on the Night, 9.00pm, Virgin Media One

David Walliams narrates more TV clangers, gaffes and fluffed cues, including the time Joan Collins (below) is accidentally upstaged by Susanna Reid.

Plus, Bruno Tonioli takes a tumble in the Strictly studio, and a giant tortoise defecates near Dermot O'Leary.

There is also footage of a runaway car as it interrupts a US news report before crashing into a lake.

New or Returning Shows

Superman & Lois, 5.25pm, BBC One

Season two of this entertaining Superman-as-family-drama series – starring starring Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch in the titular roles - opens with a double-episode.

Lois and Clark struggle as a couple, while Chrissy adjusts to running the Smallville Gazette with Lois. Meanwhile, Kyle grows concerned over Lana's involvement with a new mayoral candidate

Episode two follows at 6.05pm, where Clark opens up to Lois about his ongoing struggle with visions and admits that there is only one person who might be able to help.

Meanwhile, Lana receives some unexpected news, and tensions begin to rise between Lois and Chrissy. Sarah plans to break up with Jordan to spend time with Natalie.

The Hit List, 7.10pm, BBC One

Marvin and Rochelle Humes present the music-based quiz show.

Each week, contestants must name as many hit songs and artists as possible under intense pressure, with a £10,000 jackpot up for grabs.

The contestants in this episode are two friends from Belfast, a father and son from Essex, and a brother and sister from the West Midlands.

How to Deter a Robber, Sky Cinema & NOW

This comedy/thriller has been described as Home Alone meets Fargo.

A series of unfortunate coincidences leave recent high school graduate Madison and her boyfriend Jimmy face-to-face with the burglars who are ransacking their neighbourhood.

As the two amateur detectives line up booby traps, they soon realise it’s going to take more than some well-placed paint cans to stop the bad guys.

Spanglish, 10.30pm, RTÉ2

Comedy directed by James L Brooks, starring Paz Vega, Adam Sandler, Tea Leoni and the late great Cloris Leachman.

A Mexican woman is offered a well-paid job as housekeeper to a wealthy American celebrity chef, and relocates with her daughter to Los Angeles - but her employer's neurotic wife causes all sorts of problems.

Spider-Man: Far from Home, 10.20pm, BBC One

Web-tastic superhero adventure sequel, starring Tom Holland, Jake Gyllenhaal, Zendaya and Samuel L Jackson.

In the aftermath of the Avengers' climactic battle for the fate of the universe, the teenage webslinger just wants life to get back to normal. Whatever that is.

A school trip across Europe seems just the thing - but he ends up recruited by spy agency SHIELD to battle an invasion by elemental monsters from another dimension.

Now, Voyager, 3.25pm, BBC Two

Here’s a classic romantic melodrama from 1942, starring Bette Davis, Paul Henreid, Claude Rains, Gladys Cooper and Bonita Granville.

Presumably it's the restored version - it looks amazing.

Davis is exceptional as a nervous and frustrated woman who’s been dominated by her mother undergoes psychiatric treatment and emerges transformed.

Despite her new-found happiness and optimistic outlook on life, she finds that beauty and confidence can bring their own share of heartache.

If you’re up for an afternoon of Bette Davis and melodrama, there’s also Dark Victory at 1.45pm, which co-stars Humphrey Bogart and future US President Ronald Reagan.

It's the tale of an extravagant socialite who discovers that she has a brain tumor, which prompts her to resolve to live her remaining time to the full.

Family Flick

Hotel Transylvania 2, 6.35pm, RTÉ One

Animated comedy, with the voices of Adam Sandler and Andy Samberg.

Dracula is worried that his half-human grandson is not showing any vampiric tendencies, so enlists the help of his fellow monsters in showing the youngster how it’s done.

The count is shocked to receive an unwelcome visit from his own father, who does not approve of his son's tolerance of humans.
