US singers Phoebe Bridgers and Brandi Carlile are among the guests who will appear on the debut solo album from Mumford & Sons front man Marcus Mumford.

(self-titled) will be released on 16 September and arrives four years after Mumford & Sons most recent album Delta.

Mumford has released Cannibal, the first track from the album, and he plays 3Olympia Theatre in Dublin on 28 November.

Announcing his solo album on social media, Mumford, who is married to actress Carey Mulligan, said, "In January 2021, facing demons I danced with for a long time in isolation, I wrote a song called 'Cannibal. I took it to my friend Blake Mills, and we began the process of making the album, dear to my heart, called (self-titled)."

Monica Martin and Clairo will also make guest appearances on the album, which was produced by musician Blake Mills, who has previously worked with Mumford's friend Laura Marling, Perfume Genius and John Legend.

Last year, Mumford & Sons became a trio after founding member Winston Marshall left the band after he was criticised for tweeting his support for controversial American journalist Andy Ngo and his book, which was critical of the antifa movement.
