If you’ve looked in wonder and awe at the recent images emanating from NASA, this is definitely a must-watch. The mind-boggling depth of the universe just got a lot more real.

As NASA releases the inaugural images from the James Webb Space Telescope, this Horizon special tells the inside story of the instrument's construction, and the astronomers taking its first picture of distant stars and galaxies.

Will it be the deepest image of our universe ever taken?

Golf: The Open, 9.00pm, BBC Two

Eilidh Barbour presents action from the first day of the Major, which takes place at St Andrews in Scotland and saw Collin Morikawa enter as the defending champion.

South Africa's 2010 title-winner Louis Oosthuizen set the pace in round one last year at Royal St George's Golf Club, carding a six-under-par 64 to give him a one-stroke lead over Americans Brian Harman and Jordan Spieth.

For Irish golf fans, of course, memories go back a little further - to Shane Lowry's (above) memorable win in 2019.

It's the final episode of the so-so adaptation of John Wyndham's sci-fi novel of the same name.

Emboldened by her overnight encounter, Susannah (Keeley Hawes, below) rushes home to spread the word - unaware that a tragedy is unfolding within her family home.

Paul and Bryony are made aware of Susannah’s discovery and attempt to find a diplomatic solution.

But it isn’t long before another resident, driven to despair, takes matters into their own hands and escalates tensions even further.

Midwich is now a warzone, and all negotiations are off.

Sarah Beeny’s Little House, Big Plans, 8.00pm, Channel 4

Property expert Sarah Beeny (below) meets psychotherapist Tim, fashion designer Tiff and their daughter Tia, who wish to convert a garage into a two-bed flat to rent out in Bosbury, Herefordshire.

Covid has had an enormous impact on the family income and their aspirations, so Sarah suggests quite a radical change to their plans.

In Wales, Damion Burrows meets Rhys and Shannon, who have been unconventional by losing space to create space in their ultra-modern home.

He also meets Emma and Mike, who fell in love with a view so much that they turned their entire home around so that they could make the most of it.
