US actor Patrick Duffy - Bobby Ewing of Dallas fame - and his partner Linda Purl are visiting Ireland this week.
They are here to trace Duffy's Irish roots and to film along the way for the pilot episode of a new TV series which will air in the United States in 2023. Filming is supported by Tourism Ireland.
The now 73-year-old actor became one of the most famous faces on the planet during his time on the CBS primetime soap opera Dallas, which was a massive global success.

Duffy played Bobby Ewing, the youngest son of Miss Ellie (played by Barbara Bel Geddes), and the nice guy brother of the duplicitous JR Ewing (Larry Hagman), from 1978 to 1985 and from 1986 to 1991.
Duffy returned to reprise his role as Bobby in a continuation of Dallas, which aired from 2012 to 2014.
Linda Purl is also an actor, and is best known for playing Fonzie's girlfriend Ashley in Happy Days, a hugely successful sitcom, which starred Henry Winkler and a young Ron Howard, and ran from 1974 to 1984.
