Elvis star Olivia DeJonge, who plays Priscilla Presley in the new biopic, has told RTÉ Entertainment that she and co-star Austin Butler hope that audiences realise the sheer power of their characters' love after watching the film.
The music-driven epic from director Baz Luhrmann depicts the iconic couple's relationship from their first steps together all the way through to the love that endured following their 1973 divorce.
"We wanted them to be like Bonnie and Clyde," DeJonge told RTÉ Entertainment of the us-against-the-world dynamic.
"I think it was important to strip away the celebrity nature - fame - of it all and just play them as two kids in love."

"I don't think people quite understand the level of deep care and love that was there," DeJonge continued.
"I think people underestimate the power of a true love like that and how for her it has sort of transcended time.
"He died so many, so many years ago and she's still protecting his name and protecting his legacy. I think that's a testament to their connection."

The Australian actress said she was "beaming with pride" for everyone involved when she saw the finished film.
"To be part of it is such an honour," she added.
Elvis opens in cinemas on Friday.
