Donegal electronica artist Anthony Byrne has released his new song, Exhale. We asked him the BIG questions . . .
A graduate of Limerick Institute of Technology with a degree in Music Technology and Production in 2018, he released his first single Red Footwear later that year.
Inspired by artists such as Leonard Cohen, Deptford Goth, Sinead O'Connor, Ry X, Grimes, and Lorde, Exhale is "about the trials of depression and the suffering people endure when inflicted with this mental illness".
Tell us three things about yourself?
I love old sitcoms like Dinner Ladies and Ab Fab and stand up. I know how to make a mean curry. I'm an atheist
How would you describe your music?
My music has personal, honest lyrics with understated yet vibrant production.
Who are your musical inspirations?
As a producer, Robyn and Deptford Goth. As a songwriter, Sinead o Connor and Leonard Cohen.
What was the first gig you ever went to and the first record you ever bought/downloaded?
The first gig was Oxygen, 2007 but the first solo gig was Marina and the Diamonds. The first album I bought officially is Elephunk by the Black Eyed Peas but really it was 7 by S Club 7.
What's your favourite song right now?
My favourite song right now Tove Lo - No One Dies Alone.
Favourite lyric of all time?
My favourite lyric of all time is from I'm Your Man by Leonard Cohen - "If you want another kind of love I'll wear a mask for you"

If I could only listen to one song for the rest of my life it would be Sinead O'Connor's The Last Day of Our Acquaintance - the live version.
