Derry singer-songwriter ROE has released the first half of her debut album, That's When The Panic Sets In - listen to it here.

At 18, ROE received a coveted slot on the BBC Introducing Stage at Glastonbury in 2017, which was followed by gigs across Europe, North America, India and supporting Snow Patrol on their 2018/19 UK Arena Tour.

Roe won Best Emerging Artist at the Northern Ireland Music Prize in 2018 and released her Things We Don't Talk About EP in 2020.

Her music has been used as part of a TV and radio campaign for BBC Music NI, in ITV's The Only Way is Essex, Channel 4’s Made in Chelsea and Netflix’s Terrace House.

Included in the new six-track release are previous singles I Dare You and A Temporary Thing, along with her new single Scared Of Being Lonely.

"Scared Of Being Lonely is an ode to my attention span," she says. "I find it so difficult to stay in the moment and it affects everything that I do. I wrote this song about how frustrated I am with that infuriating part of myself.

"At 1am inside a supermarket in Reykjavik in 2019, a decision was made to postpone my debut album. Part one of That's When The Panic Sets In is the first glimpse of the artist I became after that conversation."

She adds, "These songs are a documentary of my inner most thoughts and insecurities over the past couple years. It feels like a lot to hand them off to the world, but there’s also some kind of huge relief in that. Like this is who I am and what I’m capable of."

Details of the full album release will be revealed in the coming weeks.
