Rachel Mae Hannon has released her new single, Work It Out. We asked her the BIG questions . . .

Speaking about her new song, she says, "Work It Out is about being in a relationship and knowing you have underlying issues to sort out, but delaying them to enjoy the present moment instead.

"With all of my tracks, I try to add my personal viewpoint on universal situations. The lyrics for Work It Out came naturally as procrastination seems to feed into my day to day life, as well as my relationships."

Tell us three things about yourself?

I am from Monaghan and have lived in Dublin for eight years now. I play the piano. I love swimming.

How would you describe your music?

I would describe it as a twist of pop, soul, electronic and jazz. Is there such a genre as soul-electro-jazz-pop?

Who are your musical inspirations?

Amber Mark, Erika badu, Tom Misch, Charlotte Day Wilson, Nina Simone, Hiatus Kaiyote, FKJ, London Grammar, Kaytranada, Billie Eilish, Conor Abert, Jordan Rakei, Yebba, Lianne La Havas.

What was the first gig you ever went to and the first record you ever bought/downloaded?

The first ever gig I went to was Westlife in The Point and for some reason I wore a Manchester Utd bodywarmer even though I am not sporty at all. I think my brothers and Dad had brought it home from a match! Despite the regretful fashion choices, it was an amazing first gig. The band floated through the crowd on one of those things that elevate artists through the air. They really were flying without wings.

The first record I ever bought was These Words by Natasha Beddingfield from a record shop in Monaghan Shopping Centre. I discovered it on one of those headsets that used to be attached to the walls in music shops that you could pick up and listen to. I put the single into my computer when I got home and watched the video over and over again. This started my single buying rampage - the next ones I bought were Punk Rocker by Sandi Thom, Put Your Records On by Corinne Bailey Rae and Goodbye Mr. A by the Hoosiers.

What’s your favourite song right now?

Worth It - Amber Mark.

Favourite lyric of all time?

"So, so you think you can tell heaven from hell? Blue skies from pain? Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail? A smile from a veil? Do you think you can tell?" Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Feeling Good - Nina Simone.
