US bedroom indie-pop artist girlhouse aka Lauren Luiz has released her new EP, The Third EP. We asked her the BIG questions . . .

Speaking about the new release, she says, "I split this EP into two acts. The first act follows the euphoria of avoidance, doing everything to detach from all feeling while playing house.

"The back half is meant to snap you into reality with darker sounds and themes, I talk about losing friendships not only to death but also to the flow of life, and I try to be more vulnerable with the person I love and ask them straight up, `please don't stop loving me’.

"The theme of this EP is really about coming to grips with reality and the growing pain that comes with it. I hope you like listening to this train wreck as much as I liked writing it :)""

Tell us three things about yourself?

I have a Pitbull and her name is Angel (like a biker gang member, not a dead person with wings), I’m three months and three thousand miles past due on an oil change for my car, I used to think I was allergic to dairy but somehow now I’m not?

How would you describe your music?

Neurodivergent goes outside.

Who are your musical inspirations?

TV shows and true crime documentaries. I’ll get sucked into a series and then it’ll inspire a lyric or a melody in some way. I think it’s about stepping outside of your own life/surroundings.

What was the first gig you ever went to and the first record you ever bought/downloaded?

First show I ever went to was a festival on the waterfront in Portland, OR. I went SPECIFICALLY to see Avril Lavigne, she played early, and I left after her set. My first cassette was crazysexycool by TLC but I only listened to Waterfalls.

What’s your favourite song right now?

Recently I’ve been listening to a lot of classics from the 50s and 60s; Sleepwalk by Santo and Johnny has been on rotation a lot lately.

Favourite lyric of all time?

"And at once I knew I was not magnificent". Holocene - Bon Iver.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Holocene by Bon Iver. That album came out when I was working in the kitchen at a summer camp in rural Oregon. I would take my iPod (dating myself) and walk down to the river on my break and I remember the first time I heard this song I was sitting by the river and it was sun showering in the most beautiful/cinematic way. Every time I hear this song I’m 19, I’m home, my life has just begun, and anything is possible.

Where can people find your music/more information?

I don’t think there’s one streaming service we aren’t on. Plz dm me at @girlhouseonline on IG, TikTok or twitter if you find anything we’re not on.
