It is reported that Coronation Street is primed for ructions as Ken Barlow's former lover Wendy Papadopoulos - née Crozier - returns to Weatherfield.

British tabloid the Sun claims that actress Roberta Kerr will reprise her role as Wendy in a "dramatic new storyline" after more than a decade away from the ITV soap.

A source told the paper: "Wendy was run out of the cobbles by Ken 10 years ago after she tried to rekindle their affair and she's stayed away.

"But this summer she will make a comeback as a social worker involved with another street resident and end up bumping into her old flame.

"Has Wendy changed or will she want to get her claws back into Ken?"

Kerr made her debut as Wendy in 1989, becoming part of a legendary love triangle involving Ken (played by William Roache) and his wife Deirdre (played by the late Anne Kirkbride).

Coronation Street airs on Virgin Media One and ITV on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
