Liam Neeson is to reunite with Cold Pursuit director Hans Petter Moland for Thug, a gangster thriller that will begin filming in Los Angeles in October.
US entertainment publication Deadline, which first reported Neeson's casting, says Thug tells the story of an ageing gangster "who attempts to reconnect with his children and rectify the mistakes in his past, but the criminal underworld won't loosen their grip willingly".
Tony Gayton, whose credits include the Sandra Bullock-starring Murder by Numbers and the Dwayne Johnson-starring Faster, has written the screenplay for Thug.
Neeson has recently been filming his new thriller, In the Land of Saints and Sinners, in Donegal.
