Irish production company Atom Films has announced their latest project - a new documentary on the life of American singer, Eva Cassidy.
Featuring never-before-seen archive footage, artworks, voice recordings and unheard songs, The Essence of Eva delves deep into the life of the legendary singer from the perspective of her parents, close family and friends.
It will also feature stars such as Sting, who was particularly impressed by Eva's unique version of his classic song, Fields of Gold and bacame a fan of hers.

Eva passed away twenty-five years ago from Melanoma and never saw her enormous posthumous success.
She was virtually unknown outside her native Washington, DC at the time of her death from melanoma at the age of 33 in 1996.
Two years later, her versions of Fields of Gold and Over the Rainbow were played by Mike Harding and Terry Wogan on BBC Radio 2.

Following the overwhelming response, a camcorder recording of Over the Rainbow was shown on BBC Two's Top of the Pops 2.
Shortly afterwards, the compilation album Songbird climbed to the top of the albums chart, almost three years after its initial release. The chart success in the UK and Ireland led to worldwide recognition.
The Essence of Eva film is directed by Malcolm Willis (Kilimajaro Mama) and Alex Fegan (Older Than Ireland, The Irish Pub) and is funded by Screen Ireland.
