Pick of the Day

The Great British Sewing Bee, 8.00pm, BBC One

Sara Pascoe is the new host of the feelgood sewing competition in which 12 keen amateurs take part in three challenges, all judged by Savile Row tailor Patrick Grant and fashion designer Esme Young.

They begin by making wool mini skirts with piped patch pockets, before transforming lockdown loungewear into adult tops suitable for a night out.

For the made-to-measure task, each sewer must perfectly fit a wrap dress to their model. As ever, one hopeful is awarded garment of the week, while another becomes the first to be sent home.

If you think this show sounds rubbish, give it a go. It might just put a smile on your face.

Don’t Miss

Mark Moriarty: Off Duty Chef, 8.30pm, RTÉ One

Here are the techniques and tips to master three more basic recipes as Mark Moriarty (below) prepares a chicken and bacon crumble, a green curry, and a chocolate fondant for dessert.

Tan France: Beauty and the Bleach, 9.00pm, BBC Two

Tan looks back upon own deeply personal experience of bleaching his skin when he was just nine-years-old growing up in Doncaster.

It’s a trend exists in black, Asian and Middle Eastern communities right across the UK and elsewhere as people go to extreme lengths to chase the 'white beauty’ ideal.

Alan Carr with the show's interiors guru Michelle Ogundehin

One designer goes all-out, relocating the bar to the other side of the room - but the more they rip out, the more it becomes a demolition zone.
