Britain's Got Talent, 8.00pm, Virgin Media One

Simon Cowell’s mega-successful show returns for a 15th season. Blimey! The years are flying in.

Ant and Dec return with the UK’s nationwide-ish talent search, with judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams giving their verdicts on the acts.

Among those taking to the stage of the London Palladium Theatre are a dog act like no other, harmonious choirs, and a man who left the judges spooked like never before.

Later Presents Oasis, 9.35pm, BBC Two

In the first of two back-to-back Oasis programmes, Jools Holland introduces a studio concert by the Gallagher brothers, first shown in April 2000.

Songs on the set list include the number one Go Let It Out, as well as earlier hits such as Wonderwall, Some Might Say and Supersonic.

That's followed at 10.35pm by Oasis: Right Here, Right Now, a documentary from 1997 following the band as they discussed their recent career, revisited their old neighbourhood in Manchester and performed songs from their album Be Here Now.

Canoe Man, 10.00pm, BBC Four

This is drama documentary, starring Bernard Hill – remember Yosser Hughes from The Boys From the Blackstuff? - and Saskia Reeves.

It tells the story of John Darwin, who faked his own death in a canoe accident after he and his wife got into debt. They started a new life in Panama but the deceit led them to jail.

Arthur Lowe: A Life on the Box, 11.45pm, BBC Four

Terry Wogan presents a tribute to the actor Arthur Lowe (above), featuring a compilation of classic clips from a TV career that included long stints in Dad's Army and Coronation Street.

The programme also features contributions by friends and colleagues such as Clive Dunn, Bill Pertwee, William Roache, David Croft, Jimmy Perry, Wendy Richard, Ian Lavender and Roy Hattersley.

New or Returning Shows

Greta Thunberg: A Year to Change the World, 8.05pm, RTÉ2

Documentary following the climate activist Greta Thunberg over the course of 2019 and 2020, as she travels the world exploring the science of global warming and challenging world leaders to take action on the growing crisis.

The programme follows the impact of Covid-19 on her campaign, and the challenges of persuading a world living through one crisis to face up to the possibility of another on the horizon.

In the first episode, the young Swede travels through North America on her way to a UN climate conference in Chile.

Titanic: Building the World's Largest Ship, 7.20pm, Channel 4

This is apparently the untold story of the doomed steamship's construction, revealing how 15,000 men toiled day and night in life-threatening conditions to create a state-of-the-art floating city.

Based on original blueprints and unseen archives, cutting-edge special effects bring this process back to life on screen, and explore how the outsize ambitions that made it all possible also led to the ship's dramatic demise.

The Rolling Stones: Charlie is my Darling, 9.00pm, Sky Arts

Streaming on NOW

Shot during a quick tour of Ireland just weeks after (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction hit number one on the charts, this 1965 film is an intimate, behind-the-scenes diary of life on the road with the young Stones.

It’s also absolutely marvelous.

The gigs covered include Dublin’s Adelphi Theatre and the ABC Theatre in Belfast. Look out for Keith Richard wearing a CIE bus conductor’s hat while the band enjoy a post-gig jar.

Saturday Cinema

The Robe, 3.10pm, RTÉ One

Ideal Easter weekend viewing, this Bibilcal epic is based on the novel by Lloyd C Douglas, and stars Richard Burton, Jean Simmons, Victor Mature and Michael Rennie.

A callous Roman centurion is assigned to oversee Christ's crucifixion, an experience he finds so moving that he decides to convert to the Christian faith in a bid to redeem himself.

Unfortunately, his new loyalties incur the wrath of the insane Roman Emperor Caligula.

Captain Marvel, 9.25pm, Channel 4

Here’s a very enjoyable adventure based on the comic book character, introducing her to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Starring Brie Larson, Samuel L Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn.

Carol Danvers, an alien warrior with mysterious powers, crash-lands on Earth in 1994 and joins forces with agent Nick Fury, in an attempt to solve the mysteries of her past.

Family Flick

PAW Patrol: The Movie, Sky Cinema & NOW

No job’s too big and no pup’s too small in this big screen animated adventure for every kid’s favourite squad of canines.

When their biggest rival, Humdinger, becomes Mayor of nearby Adventure City and starts wreaking havoc, Ryder and the heroic pups kick into high gear to face the challenge head-on.

While one pup must face his past in Adventure City, the team finds help from a new ally, the savvy dachshund Liberty.

Together, armed with exciting new gadgets and gear, the PAW Patrol fights to save the citizens of Adventure City.
