Leonard Cohen was not only a mentor, a very close friend and collaborator but also an inspiration to the Grammy-nominated Batalla.
It was her years touring and recording with him that fully transformed her direction as an artist having joined Leonard Cohen’s I’m Your Man world tour in 1988 when she was just in her twenties.
Cohen encouraged Perla to launch her solo career, and since then she has released seven albums, staged two one-woman shows and performed in some of the most prestigious venues around the world.
Her personal homage to her mentor Cohen continues to play to sold-out audiences throughout Europe and North America - and Irish Cohen fans can hear what it's all about on June 1 at Vicar Street.
