Cork singer Jennifer Lyons has released her new song Run The Wild. We asked her the BIG questions . . .
This is the first single off her forthcoming album, also titled Run The Wild, which was produced and engineered in Monique Studios in Cork with John Ryan, Christian Best and Daragh Keary.
Tell us three things about yourself?
I am a singer- songwriter and travelling musician from Inniscarra, Co. Cork. I drive around Ireland in my beat-up Volkswagen singing tunes and having the craic. I'm also into sports, riding bikes and pucking sliotars. I'm a lefty at absolutely everything except music.
How would you describe your music?
I went to a lot of festivals and fleadhs and musicals growing up, tried to soak in everything I could so I would say there is no clear nod to a specific genre. The music on the album grew organically over the course of a year to create a sound that I could call my own but with some strong influences from Fleetwood Mac to Alanis Morrisette.
Who are your musical inspirations?
I saw Florence + The Machine perform at Oxygen in 2010 and I nearly lost my life. Such a moment. Arcade Fire every single time because they are like nothing I've ever seen before. It was Paul Brady who inspired me to start writing songs, followed by Hozier.
What was the first gig you ever went to and the first record you ever bought?
The first gig I ever went to was Bryan Adams in Killarney. First record I ever bought was the Spice Girls' first album on tape and I would dance about to it in my kitchen and put on performances for my parents. I took it very seriously. Outfit changes, the lot.
What's your favourite song right now?
The Place That I Work - Saint Sister.
Favourite lyric of all time?

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life what would it be?
Anything from Hozier/Joni Mitchell. It's all gold.
