Oscar-nominated star Ruth Negga, ambassador for the Catalyst International Film Festival, has recorded a special message to movie fans across the country.
Based in Limerick, Catalyst International Film Festival will take place on 1 - 2 April, in-person and online, presenting films, panel discussions and networking events in venues across the city.
IFTA nominated feature films, Pure Grit and Who We Love will lead a festival programme where diverse themes, stories and storytellers are celebrated.
The festival will present a programme of short films from Ireland, Belgium, USA, Germany, Sweden and the UK.
Panel discussions will celebrate diverse voices and the short screenplay competition winner will be announced at a ceremony on the opening night of the festival.
In a special message, festival ambassador Ruth Negga who is currently starring in Macbeth on Broadway said: "Catalyst International Film Festival is unique in Ireland….the city of Limerick is the backdrop for the festival with screenings and industry events taking place at the Belltable, The People's Museum, Limerick City Gallery of Art and the Savoy Hotel.
"As the team celebrates the first 'in-person’ event in 2022, we still want to provide a hybrid model running alongside. This way, our various events and screenings will allow access to the festival for audiences that may not be able to attend in person."
Speaking about her love of film, Negga added: "Films to me are magical things, of great potency and power and generosity of spirit. A team of people coming together to tell stories they are compelled to share."
Catalyst International Film Festival will run from 1 - 2 April 2022 across Limerick City and streaming online on Eventive.
