They are as different as chalk and cheese - but both My Brilliant Friend and And Just Like That . . . have been renewed by HBO.
Fans of Elena Ferrante's much-loved Neapolitan novels will be thrilled to learn that the prestige Italian drama My Brilliant Friend will get a fourth and final season to compliment the quartet of books.
The final collection of episodes will be based on the final novel, The Story of the Lost Child.
"When we decided to bring Elena Ferrante’s masterpiece Neapolitan Novels to the screen, we knew Elena and Lila’s story had to be told in its entirety," says Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President of HBO Programming.
"It’s both thrilling and bittersweet to embark on this fourth and final season. We’re deeply grateful to the entire creative team led by Saverio Costanzo and Lorenzo Mieli, and to our season 3 director Daniele Luchetti.

"We look forward to completing the quartet and know The Story of the Lost Child will bring the series to a close with the same heart, intimacy, and epic storytelling that has defined Elena and Lila’s journey from the beginning."
Meanwhile, it was also confirmed that the much-maligned Sex and the City reboot And Just Like That . . . will be back for a second season.
"I am delighted and excited to tell more stories about these vibrant, bold characters - played by these powerful, amazing actors," executive producer Michael Patrick King said in a statement.
"The fact is, we’re all thrilled. And just like that… our Sex life is back."
Added Sarah Aubrey, HBO Max’s head of original content, "We have been delighted by the cultural conversation generated by these characters and their stories, set in a world we already know and love so much.
"We are proud of the work Michael Patrick King and our wonderful writers, producers, cast and crew have done to bring these stories to the screen. We can’t wait for fans to see what’s in store for Season 2!"
Despite attracting much criticism from both fans and critics, And Just Like That… has been HBO Max’s most successful original series to date, according to the streamer’s boss Casey Bloys.
"In terms of viewership, it’s been phenomenal," he said. "I couldn’t be happier with how it’s doing in terms of reception."
And Just Like That… debuted in December, with Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis once again playing Sex and the City's Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte.
