Pick of the Day

Saint Patrick’s Day at the BBC, 9.00pm, BBC Four

This night celebrating Irish music is happening a day late – but it’s the thought that counts, eh?

It all kicks-off with this collection of classic pop and rock performances by Irish acts that have been rooted out of the extensive BBC archives.

This selection reflects the huge impact that music from Ireland has made across the globe, with performances from U2, Sinead O'Connor, Van Morrison, the Pogues, the Corrs, the Cranberries, Boyzone and Westlife.

It’s followed at 10pm by Other Voices: Ireland’s Greatest Small Music Festival, where Annie Macmanus - aka Annie Mac (above) - celebrates the 20th anniversary of Ireland's Other Voices Festival.

It features interviews with and intimate performances from Sam Fender, Sigrid, John Grant, Villagers, Dermot Kennedy and Kay Young.

Annie also opens the archives to showcase remarkable performances from the Fontaines DC, Little Simz and Arlo Parks.
