Nightmare Alley, Disney+

Nominated for four Academy Awards - Best Picture, Cinematography, Production Design and Costume Design – Guillermo del Toro's noir remake is impressive if a little on the long side.

Based on the 1946 novel of the same name by William Lindsay Gresham and a 1947 movie, Bradley Cooper stars as a charming and ambitious carnival worker with a mysterious past who takes big risks to boost his career.

The supporting cast – including Cate Blanchett, Toni Collette, Willem Dafoe, Richard Jenkins, Rooney Mara, Ron Perlman, Mary Steenburgen, and David Strathairn – is impressive.

Blanchett is mesmeric as psychologist Lilith Ritter, and the film’s worth watching just for her performance.

Grey’s Anatomy, Disney+

The show that made Shonda Rhimes the queen of TV remains a beloved cultural touchstone that pushes boundaries with timely subjects and characters that break the mould.

Ellen Pompeo returns as Meredith Grey, the central character amongst the doctors at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, as they continually discover that neither medicine nor relationships can be defined in black and white.

Shortly after meeting a man named Shane Fox on Twitter in 2011, Melngailis begins draining her restaurant’s funds and funneling the money to Fox after he cons her into believing he could make her dreams a reality - but only if she continues to obey his every request without question.

A few years later the couple, now married and on the lam after stealing nearly $2 million from the restaurant and its staff, are found holed up in a Tennessee motel by law enforcement.

Their undoing? A charge made under Fox’s real name, Anthony Strangis, for a Domino’s pizza.
