Broadcaster Eoghan McDermott has said he is still processing false allegations that were made about him on social media and that he hopes to "close this chapter".
Tweeting for the first time since February 2021, the former 2fm presenter said: "A few months ago, false allegations were made about me.
"Despite not being investigated or verified, these allegations were spread widely, the effects of which I am still processing."
In an accompanying post, Mr McDermott shared a solicitor's letter received by his solicitors acknowledging that "false allegations" were made against him by their client on Twitter last year.
The letter also states that their client "sincerely regrets publishing the inaccuracies" online.
The letter reads: "Our client accepts that there were a number of serious falsehoods contained in her publications, which have caused distress to your client and those closest to him.
"Our client sincerely regrets publishing the inaccuracies contained in those publications and acknowledges that they have had a harmful effect on your client and those close to him."
"Furthermore, our client accepts that Mr McDermott fundamentally disputes our client's version of events of what occurred between them during the course of their relationship," the letter added.

In his tweet, Mr McDermott added: "At the request of and with consideration for the other party to this dispute, I will not be commenting any further on this matter."
In March last year, RTÉ confirmed that Mr McDermott, who joined the station in 2014, would not be returning to 2FM after his contract expired.
Following the publication of the tweets today RTÉ declined to comment.
