Dublin singer Lisa Keane has released her new single, Concrete Jungle. We asked her the BIG questions . . .
A graduate of BIMM Dublin, she is inspired by Taylor Swift, Griff and HAIM and speaking about Concrete Jungle, she says, "The lyrics celebrate the small moments in a relationship that make it special. It's about finding beauty in the simple, everyday things that connect you with someone else.
"It focuses on the moments that stick with you and the times you want to remember forever."
Tell us three things about yourself?
I’m the biggest chocoholic ever. I started writing my own music when I was about 14 or 15. My new single Concrete Jungle is my favourite song I have written so far!
How would you describe your music?
My music definitely leans heavily towards the pop genre. I like to take influences from different genres and artists that I’m listening to at the time of writing or recording. For Concrete Jungle, I worked with Sam Stevenson, who is a really great Irish producer. He completely nailed the sound I wanted for this song and that’s something we’re going to focus on for my future releases, keeping a coherent, unique sound for me as an artist.
Who are your musical inspirations?
My biggest musical inspiration is Taylor Swift. I think her lyrics are amazing. I also have to say Britney Spears as she really sparked my interest in music as a kid. She is an amazing performer!
What was the first gig you ever went to and the first record you ever bought/downloaded?
The first gig I remember going to was Britney Spears in The Point (now the 3Arena) in 2004. I was only about seven at the time and I remember being so excited to go to my first concert. I can’t remember exactly what the first record I bought was, but I’d say it was probably something by Girls Aloud.
What’s your favourite song right now?
I absolutely love Head on Fire by Griff and Sigrid. It’s been stuck in my head since it was released. Also, London is Lonely by Holly Humberstone is absolutely gorgeous!
Favourite lyric of all time?
My favourite lyric is: "And you call me up again just to break me like a promise. So casually cruel in the name of being honest". All Too Well by Taylor Swift.
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Definitely, All Too Well (10-minute version/Taylor’s Version).
