Ballroom to Improve. Dermot Bannon would love to do Dancing with the Stars

Property guru, sauna lover and national treasure Dermott Bannon has uttered the words Dancing with the Stars fans have been waiting to hear. But, alas, its 12-week run is too long a commitment for him.

With the return of the much-loved Room to Improve on RTÉ One this Sunday night, Dermot Bannon has revealed he would also like to take part in another Sunday night TV stalwart - Dancing with the Stars.

Bannon, who has been bringing cameras into homes up and down the country for almost 15 years, told Jennifer Zamparelli on 2fm that he would love to swap glass boxes for the glitterball trophy and give Dancing with the Stars a twirl.

When Zamparelli, who happens to be the host of DWTS, posed the all-important question, Bannon responded that he had two answers - one from the heart and one from the head.

"The heart?" Zamparelli asked.

"Yeah," Bannon responded gleefully.

"The head?"

"No... it's 12 weeks and I am assuming I would get to the final!"

If there was some way Bannon could fit it into his schedule, the next question is, can he dance?

"I think I can, but that is at weddings and nightclubs. But there is more involved, isn't there?!" he laughed.

During their chat, Bannon and Zamparelli also discussed their mutual love for saunas and Bannon also revealed that his children are quite embarrassed by him - and he doesn't mind!

"I was on the Toy Show a couple of years ago and I spoilt it for them. They say, 'Now we can't watch it because dad was on it!'"
