Netflix has released the first look at the upcoming Vikings spin-off which was filmed across Co Wicklow.
Vikings Valhalla drops on the streaming service on 25 February and promises to retain the "core DNA" of the original series as it explores a new generation of legendary Vikings.
It begins in the early 11th century and chronicles the legendary adventures of some of the most famous Vikings who ever lived - the legendary explorer Leif Eriksson (Sam Corlett), his fiery and headstrong sister Freydis Eriksdotter (Frida Gustavsson), and the ambitious Nordic prince Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter).
As tensions between the Vikings and the English royals reach a bloody breaking point, these three Vikings begin an epic journey, from Kattegat to England and beyond, as they fight for survival and glory.
Irish Executive Producer Morgan O'Sullivan said of the series: "Valhalla is 150 years later from the original Vikings and the world has changed."
Showrunner Jeb Stuart said: "Fans will find a lot of similar things in Valhalla, the historical accuracy, the depth, the suspense, but what fascinated me about this Viking story was we expand on the scope of all of that."
Actress Frida Gustavvson, who plays Freydis Eriksdotter in the series, added: "Fans of Vikings are going to be very happy when they see that the core DNA of the show; great characters, epic scale battles, it's all there."
