Featuring former members of Bristol acts such as The Moonflowers, The Fantasy Orchestra, Mooz, Patrick Duff and Chikinki, Shoun Shoun play abrasive garage rock, soporific dream pop, playful psychedelia and carnal post-punk.

Tell us three things about yourself?

I'm from Berlin and grew up listening to traditional Jazz, French chansons, and Nina Hagen.

At some point I ended up living in Southampton. The good part is that friends and I started a band called Big Joan there. I ended up shouting at people through a modified phone handset while hitting a metal bin.

I also lived in Texas Amarillo for a year. I'm not sure if that did me any good. Or them.

How would you describe your music?

We can be a bit noisy, a bit quiet, at times melodic and then again less so. And sometimes we apparently sound like this: "Annette's voice is quiet at first but there is a dark, daunting aura and, as the chorus comes, they explode into action with a sound that could be the Banshees going head-to-head with Throwing Muses while LA Witch add chops."

Who are your musical inspirations?

Nadine Shah, Ennio Morricone, Sorry, Nick Cave, Sonic Youth, The Velvet Underground.

What was the first gig you ever went to and the first record you ever bought/downloaded?

My first proper gig was Frankie Goes To Hollywood. The first single I ever bought was I Love Rock 'n' Roll by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. Hearing this single played by some teenagers at some German riding stables hit me like a revelation.

What's your favourite song right now?

Big Thief - Not. It's so emotional and intense and beautiful all at once.

Favourite lyric of all time?

Kenny Rogers - Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In). "I pushed my soul in a deep dark hole and then I followed it in, I watched myself crawlin' out as I was a-crawlin' in, I got up so tight I couldn't unwind, I saw so much I broke my mind, I just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in". This tune gave massive lyrical inspiration to our single, Stuck.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life what would it be?

Viagra Boys - In Spite of Ourselves. At first listen I thought it's alright. And then I heard it again and it's pure genius.
