17-year-old Dublin newcomer Saibh Skelly has released her new single, Is Your Bedroom Ceiling Bored? We asked her the BIG questions . . .

Saibh teamed up with fellow Dublin street musician Jacob Koopman for their version of the Sody & Cavetown song, which she says is one of the key tracks that helped her through lockdown.

She releases her debut EP, Undercover Heartbreak, on April 8 and it brings together five contemporary songs that have resonated with Saibh and her fans over the course of the last two years.

Tell us three things about yourself?

My name is Saibh Skelly, I'm 17 years old and I’m a singer-songwriter from Dublin. I’ve been busking on Grafton Street since I was 15.

How would you describe your music?

I like to think of my music as a more stripped-back, acoustic version of pop.

Who are your musical inspirations?

Ed Sheeran has always been an important musical inspiration to me but more recently Holly Humberstone has been a huge one.

What was the first gig you ever went to and the first record you ever bought/downloaded?

The first gig I ever went to was One Direction in Croke Park in 2014. The first album I bought was Ed Sheeran’s Multiply.

What’s your favourite song right now?

That would be Scarlett by Holly Humberstone.

Favourite lyric of all time?

It would just have to be one from Mr. Brightside by The Killers: "Jealousy, turning saints into the sea/Swimming through sick lullabies/Choking on your alibis."

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I’d say Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls. It’s an all-time favourite of mine.
