Ant McPartlin is reported to have been in an emotional mood when he made his return to Britain's Got Talent after a two-year absence.
The presenter joined Dec Donnelly in front of a live audience for the first day of filming of the first series of the hit ITV show since 2020 and is said to have been in tears as he took to the stage at the London Palladium.
The Daily Mirror has reported that McPartlin told the audience, "Excuse me while I go and cry. We are so excited to be back.
"We were gutted to miss last year and not get to see you all. But we’re back, raring to go and have one hell of a show for you."
The duo, who have presented the show since 2007, were joined by judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams also returned for the first day of rehearsals, with Holden saying she was "really choked up" to be back.
Britain’s Got Talent returns to ITV later this year after the finals were pushed back from spring to autumn last year because of the pandemic.
The shows then were pre-recorded with a virtual audience before the show was put on hold.
