Will Smith's beloved 1990s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air has been given the reboot treatment and the first trailer hints at a much grittier show.
Like the original series, the reboot follows a street-smart teenager from west Philadelphia who is sent to live with his wealthy aunt and uncle in their mansion in Bel Air, Los Angeles to give him a chance at a better future.
However, while the original series starring Will Smith in the central role was a comedy, the reboot is more serious in tone.

The concept for the new show, simply titled Bel-Air, came from Fresh Prince fan and writer and director Morgan Cooper in 2019.
He came up with the idea to remake the sitcom as a gritty drama and even made a mock trailer to show how it could look.
Three years later, the show has been brought to screens by executive producer Will Smith with newcomer Jabari Banks taking over his leading role.
The trailer confirms the tone of the reboot is much more serious as Will's past troubles seem to be catching-up on him.
As well as Banks, the show also stars Adrian Holmes and Cassandra Freeman as Philip and Vivian Banks, Will's uncle and aunt, while Olly Sholotan plays Will's cousin, Carlton Banks.
Video streaming service Peacock granted the series a two-season order.
Bel-Air is set to debut on February 13 in the US and will air on Sky and NOW Ireland later this year.
