Benedict Cumberbatch will star in a Netflix adaptation of Roald Dahl's short story collection The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar which is to be directed by Wes Anderson.
The Power of the Dog star Cumberbatch, who has also starred as Stephen Strange in the MCU, is the only actor attached to the new project so far and it will mark his first collaboration with the director, who recently released his new film The French Dispatch and previously adapted Dahl’s Fantastic Mr. Fox' in 2009.
The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar is a collection of seven short stories with more adult themes that mixes fact and fiction and contains autobiographical references to the author’s own life.
Netflix acquired the entire works of Roald Dahl last year and director Taika Waititi is reported to be working on projects based on the author’s book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Anderson is currently in Spain filming his next project, Asteroid City, which stars Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, and Adrien Brody.
Tom Hanks, Scarlett Johansson, Bryan Cranston, Margot Robbie, Sophia Lillis and Maya Hawke are also in the cast.
