As Fair City's Juliet heads into a busy Christmas with her family, we caught up with actress Ella Barton to get the lowdown on what' s ahead this festive season.
Juliet had quite the 2021. How would you sum it up?
I think this year we have really seen Juliet grow up. She is trying to find herself and is going through what most young adults go through. She has done some crazy things in 2021 and gotten herself into some wild situations, which have been really fun to see how they play out on screen.
What can you tell us about her Christmas with Mondo, Melanie, and Alex?
We are all spending Christmas together. It is really nice because we are starting to feel like a real family. We go through our ups and downs but at the end of the day we are family and there is so much love between us. To sum up our Christmas in a couple of words, it is full of love and family dynamics… just like your average Irish family.
Does she learn any lessons this festive season or is more trouble just around the corner?
I think this festive season Juliet is taking a back seat and watching others get into trouble. It is a nice change for her. I think she is enjoying watching other people go through their own little young adult crisis. As for her learning anything, does Juliet really ever learn her lesson?!
Why do you think Fair City fans always want the best for Juliet, even when she makes a mess of things?
I think fans want the best for her because she is really relatable. I do not think Juliet intends to go out and make a mess of things, she just always seems to be the one who ends up in them! I think it is because she lives in her own little bubble and has a short-term kind of thinking process. She does not think about the long-term consequences of her actions.
What part of Juliet's personality do you enjoy playing the most?
Every part! She is honestly so fun to play, from her attitude to her fashion style. Also, her confidence: she wants to be a social media influencer and nothing is going to get in her way. I love that quality about her.
What would you like to see happen Juliet in 2022 and have you received any clues as to where the storylines will take her?
I have received no clues, so I have no idea what Juliet will be up to, but I would like to see her maybe fall in love (with someone her own age!). The writers are great on Fair City and they always surprise me with Juliet's storylines, so I'm excited to see what is in store for Juliet in 2022.
