All is not rosy in the garden for Fair City couple Cian and Dearbhla this festive season. We catch up with actor Adam Weafer to get the lowdown on what's coming up...
Things aren't looking rosy for Cian and Dearbhla's relationship this Christmas. Are there more surprises to come?
Oh, there's always surprises!
He's caused a lot of problems for her by posting the photo online. Given what he's done, do you think he actually loves her, or is he stuck in the headspace that, really, it's all about him and his feelings?
Nah, I think he does. I don't think he'd waste his own time if he didn't believe that they could work out. His knee-jerk reaction to being emasculated alongside multiple glasses of wine caused him to make such a grave mistake. I think he's gonna try everything he can to fix it.
Do you think they have it in them to get past their own egos and have a future together, or would they be better just being friends?
I think they are both very strong-minded individuals, both with their own standards and priorities. [They are] Two people that are in some ways very similar. So this will always cause conflict, but I think it's refreshing and new to see this kind of balance in a relationship and not just the girl swanning to the guy-type thing that we've seen over and over again.
Do you think Fair City fans are rooting for them as a couple?
I think they are. All we can do is our best at portraying this difficult yet endearing relationship. So I hope they are, but it's not on my mind either way.
If they both end up single, who do you think has the best chance of happiness?
I think Dearbhla will always be happiest, as she has a strong family behind her. Cian has his mother, but we are yet to see how they are together.
Do you already know what's ahead for Cian in 2022?
I do know what lies ahead and it all sounds very exciting. I'm looking forward to getting stuck into that.
