Meryl Streep has said lockdown and isolation during the pandemic made her forget how to act.
Speaking during a cast interview for director Adam McKay's Don't Look Up, with McKay, Jonah Hill, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence and Tyler Perry, the veteran actor said, "I didn't feel funny in the lockdown.
"When I would come in to shoot my stuff, [I'd] get out of the car and hadn't spoken to anybody in three weeks. [I'd] walk into the stadium in Worcester, put on the wig and the nails and the suit, and make a speech to all these people."
However, she added, "I just lost it. I forgot how to act, I forgot what I was about. It sort of dismantles your humanity, to be isolated like that. But thank god for Jonah because he kept us laughing."
Don’t Look Up is a black comedy which sees two low-level astronomers must go on a giant media tour to warn mankind of an approaching comet that will destroy planet Earth.
Steep plays US President Orlean with Hill as her son. Timothée Chalamet and Jennifer Lawrence are also among the cast.
During the media event to promote the film, Hill said how much he enjoyed working with Streep,
"I'm not just saying it because she's the GOAT but Meryl was so rad, not because of your stature in your art, but because of how fun and funny you were in the pocket of this character." he said.
"I had so much fun. Once we were in that Oval Office it was so cool, because it was a bunch of people I either know really well and/or deeply respect. It was like, oh my god, we can joke around together."
Don't Look Up can be seen on Netflix from December 24.
