Last Singer Standing, 8.30pm, RTÉ One

Nicky Byrne hosts as the seven qualifiers battle it out in the grand final of the singing contest, trying to win the votes of Nadine Coyle, Samantha Mumba and Joey Fatone (all below), as well as those of the studio audience and the eliminated contestants.

The seven who made it through are: Alex King (from Dublin), Tony Cunningham (Galway), Rachael Farrell (Laois), Dame Stuffy (Dublin), Caroline Bailey (Cork), Patrick O'Sullivan (Cork), and Janet Grogan (Dublin).

But only one can win the cash prize of €25,000 and be named Last Singer Standing.

Strictly Come Dancing, 7.05pm, BBC One

We’re almost done for another year.

Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman host as John Whaite and Johannes Radebe, AJ Odudu and Kai Widdrington, Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice, and Rhys Stephenson and Nancy Xu contest the semi-final of the dance contest.

They have to learn and perform two routines to impress the judges (above) and the viewers at home across the UK, and score one of the places in next week's grand final.

Angela Scanlon's Ask Me Anything, 10.00pm, RTÉ One

It's the season one finale of chatty Angela's show featuring surprises and unexpected revelations for the celebrity guests.

This week's line-up is former rugby player Peter Stringer, comedian, actress and writer Aisling Bea (below) and author of 10 cookbooks Donal Skehan - all of whom have agreed to let Angela Scanlon ask them anything.

Christmas Classics: Talking Pictures, 3.35pm, BBC Two

Celia Imrie looks back at some of the best-loved festive movies, from It's A Wonderful Life and White Christmas through to Love Actually and the Nativity series.

Featuring TV interviews in which stars discuss how these Christmas classics were made, and why people have fallen for them, including appearances by James Stewart, Bing Crosby, Macaulay Culkin and Kermit the Frog.

Sting/Police Night

A must for all Sting fans, BBC Two are dedicating Saturday night to the former Police frontman. Here's the lowdown . . .

At 8.25pm - TOTP2 Police Special!

Hour-long edition featuring performances of a selection of hits by Sting and the Police, including Roxanne, Can't Stand Losing You, Message in a Bottle, Walking on the Moon, Every Breath You Take and Fields of Gold.

At 9.25pm - Reel Stories: Sting

The singer-songwriter sits down with Dermot O' Leary in a cinema to talk about his life and career, viewing some of his most famous performances and interviews from over the years.

They range from his first TV appearance on the BBC's The Old Grey Whistle Test in 1978, to performing at Live Aid in 1985, and his reunion tour with the Police in 2007.

At 10.10pm - Sting: When the Last Ship Sails

Sting performs songs from his album The Last Ship in an intimate performance recorded in 2013 at the Public Theatre, New York.

The music was inspired by the shipbuilding community of Wallsend in north-east England, where the former Police frontman was born and raised, and forms part of his Broadway musical.

At 11.30pm - Old Grey Whistle Test: Police in the East

Documentary following the Police on their 1980 tour of Japan, Hong Kong, India, Egypt and Greece.

Annie Nightingale interviews band members Sting, Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers, and the programme also features footage from the concerts.

New or Returning Shows

The Hit List, 6.20pm, BBC One

Marvin and Rochelle Humes present a celebrity edition of the music-based quiz show.

Jake Wood (above), Tamzin Outhwaite, Gareth Malone, YolanDa Brown, Alex Brooker and Ellie Taylor must name as many hit songs and artists as possible under intense pressure.

It's all for a good cause as there’s a £10,000 jackpot up for grabs for the charity of their choice.

Capital Jingle Bell Ball 2021, 10.00pm, Sky Max

The Capital Jingle Bell Ball is back and bigger than ever, kicking-off the festive season with two days of hot performances from some of the biggest artists around.

Performing live at The O2 this year will be Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran (above), Coldplay, Years & Years, Lil Nas X, Anne Marie and many, many more.

Continues on Sunday night at 10.00pm on Sky Max.

Saturday Cinema

Far from the Madding Crowd, 6.35pm, BBC Two

Classic period drama based on Thomas Hardy's novel, starring Carey Mulligan, Matthias Schoenaerts, Tom Sturridge and Michael Sheen.

A headstrong Victorian woman inherits a sheep farm in a remote area of Dorset.

She struggles to maintain her independence while being courted by three very different men - a stoic farmer, a dashing, reckless soldier and a lonely older man.

The Equalizer, 9.25pm, Channel 4

This violent action thriller is based on the 1980s’ TV series of the same name, and stars Denzel Washington and Chloe Grace Moretz.

A retired secret agent decides to apply his deadly talents to the task of helping victims of injustice.

When he witnesses a prostitute being beaten up by a pimp, he kills the man, an act that draws him into a battle to the death with a Russian crime syndicate.

Family Flick

Scrooge, 1.45pm, BBC Two

Here’s a musical adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic A Christmas Carol, starring Albert Finney, Alec Guinness, Kenneth More, Edith Evans and Paddy Stone.

Hard-hearted Victorian miser Ebenezer Scrooge refuses to join in with the spirit of the festive season - until a succession of spectral visitors turn up to teach him the error of his ways.
