Dublin-based four-piece shoegaze band Floor Show have released their debut single, Walls. We asked them the BIG questions . . .

Speaking about the song, the band say Walls is the culmination of the frustration that comes from long periods of being confined to write and create in isolation, breaking through mental barriers and overcoming the fear and anxiety that comes with being outside your comfort zone.

Tell us three things about yourself?

(Forest) Floor Show

We all have studied or are currently working towards getting degrees in music. There are two Seans in the band, and they share a birthday. We were all brought up in completely different places. Andrew is from Meath, one Sean is from Mayo, the other is from Dublin, and Jessi grew up in Crawley, England.

How would you describe your music?

Loud and soft gets pretty close.

Who are your musical inspirations?

My Bloody Valentine, Gilla Band, Sonic Youth, Portishead, Slowdive to name but a few. We tend to take some influence from a lot of the things that were listening to right now as well, as there is so much great music being made at the moment.

What was the first gig you ever attended and the first music you bought/downloaded?

Sean: My first gig was Foo Fighters in Marlay Park about 15 years ago. First music I ever bought was a Blur compilation album I'm fairly sure.

Andrew: I saw Slipknot for my first show. First music I bought was Incesticide by Nirvana.

Sean: Queens of The Stone Age was the first gig and I bought a Black Eyed Peas album called The End. I think I was about nine!

What's your favourite song right now?

Sean: Scratchcard Lanyard by Dry Cleaning. They released their debut album this year, and its class!

Andrew: Skeleton Beach by Dooms children.

Sean: Rebound by JPEG Mafia.

Favourite lyric of all time?

There’s just way too many awesome lyrics out there to pick just one!

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life what would it be?

Sean: Donna Summer - I Feel Love. It's just a brilliant track.

Jessi: Arctic Monkeys - 505. I feel like my taste in music always changes, but I end up coming back to this song.

Andrew: Battles - The Yabba.

Sean: 10CC - Dreadlock Holiday. An absolutely timeless classic!
