Actress Lindsay Lohan has announced her engagement to her boyfriend of two years Bader Shammas.

Taking to Instagram on Sunday morning, the Mean Girls star posted photographs of herself with her new fiancé and revealed her engagement ring.

Lohan (35) captioned the post: "My love. My life. My family. My future. #love", alongside a diamond ring emoji.

Shammas is the assistant vice president of the global investments bank Credit Suisse and is said to live in Dubai where Lohan has also lived since 2014.

The actress has kept her relationship with Shammas private and after referring to him as her "boyfriend" in an Instagram post last year, she later deleted it.

Lohan has been away from acting for nearly a decade, but recent reports suggest that she is making a comeback in a forthcoming Netflix Christmas movie.

She is set to play the lead role as an engaged hotel heiress who falls in love with a working class boy in the yet to be titled movie.

Her most recent notable role was in The Canyons in 2013, which was directed by Paul Schrader and written by Bret Easton Ellis.

Lohan moved to Europe in the late 2000s and appeared in a West End adaptation of David Mamet's Speed-the-Plow.
