The most wonderful time of the television year is upon us and we can now reveal that this year's Late Late Toy Show theme is an absolute Disney classic – The Lion King.
From Hakuna Matata to The Lion Sleeps Tonight to Circle of Life, The Lion King has no shortage of brilliant songs to choose from for an opening musical extravaganza that has become a real showstopper over the years.
Host Ryan Tubridy always embraces the show with bags of energy and we can’t wait to see what character he’ll take on for the big opening number. Will he dress up as Simba or will he give Zazu a whirl?
This is the second Toy Show in Covid times and last year’s Wonderful World of Roald Dahl theme provided some much-needed moments of joy, laughter and escapism, with audiences hearts warmed all over the world.

We had all hoped that it would be the only pandemic show, but this year’s Lion King theme is just as fitting as it deals with the importance of family, growing stronger through adversity and of course, the circle of life.
This isn’t the first time a big Disney movie has provided the theme on the night as Frozen took centre-stage in 2019, and Tubridy made a great Olaf!
We could never forget the year when the action was all about the Little Mermaid and the Under The Sea opening, featuring Tubs as Sebastian, was just brilliant!
When The Jungle Book came to town, he dressed up as Baloo – so given his form for picking the funny secondary characters, this year maybe he is more likely to pick a Zazu costume!
No matter what though, we’re in for something special and there really is nothing else like the Toy Show.
