Adele has announced that she asked Spotify to make it so that her new album would not automatically play on shuffle, and the streaming giant have done as she asked.

The 33-year-old singer-songwriter took to social media to announce the news, saying it was her one request for Spotify ahead of her album going live on the platform.

"This was the only request I had in our ever changing industry," she shared with her followers.

"We don't create albums with so much care and thought into our track listing for no reason.

"Our art tells a story and our stories should be listened to as we intended. Thank you Spotify for listening."

The official Spotify Twitter account responded with saying "anything for you" to the star.

Of course, the shuffle option is still available if you don't want to listen to the album as Adele intended, but it is no longer the automatic option when selecting an album to play.

Adele's new album 30 scored one of the largest ever debuts on Spotify on its release with 60.7million steams in the first day.
