Cork duo Ebben Phlö have released the video for their new song, Reviler. We asked band member Kevin Ring the BIG questions . . .

This is second release from the band, which also includes James Moone, and their first video. The song was recorded between their home studios and drums were recorded in Monique studios with Christian best in Cork.

The promo was directed by feeetzy (aka Michael Fitzpatrick) and was filmed in Lisbon and speaking about the video, the director says, "On first listen I had seen it in my mind's eye as something fast paced with like a car chase or similar.

"I told Kev at the time that I'd bring a camera to Lisbon later that year, but it wasn’t until I was sitting next to him at dinner that I found out the actual emotion behind the song.

"He told me it dealt with feelings of isolation and loneliness which is obvious when you actually listen to the lyrics. Kev’s vision of the music video was to follow the experience of someone who arrives at an afterparty, knowing nobody and failing to make friends because of his intoxication. I told him we could film it that night. The people we were having dinner with happily obliged."

Tell us three things about yourself?

I'm Irish and live in Lisbon, I once knocked my two front teeth out while cycling a bike through the Jack Lynch Tunnel.

How would you describe your music?

I usually wouldn't. I think describing music puts it in a box immediately. I guess every musician gets into playing and writing for the opposite reason - there are no rules. So yeah, 100% rock music. Haha!

Who are your musical inspirations?

We genuinely listen to everything. It comes and goes. Anything from John Martyn and Paul Brady to Kendrick Lamar and Paul Simon. In fact, recently I've been hugely inspired by Irish musicians like Fontaines D.C., Kojaque, and Yenkee (a friend of ours. James plays bass in the band).

What was the first gig you ever went to and the first record you ever bought/downloaded?

Well, I never really bought records growing up. I would just listen to my brother Ian's ones. He had mad collections by the time I was like 13/14. A lot of J Dilla. First gig was probably some small acoustic flamenco gig my dad would have brought us to in Spain.

What’s your favourite song right now?

I'm singing a different song every day. Maybe something by Peter Cat Recording Co.

Favourite lyric of all time?

I love the lyrics of Cause by Rodriguez. The opening lines are great. "'Cause I lost my job two weeks before Christmas, And I talked to Jesus at the sewer, And the Pope said it was none of his God-damned business".

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life what would it be?

It would have to be something classical, I think. Anything with lyrics would eventually drive me mad. One song forever would be a nightmare in any case lol.
