Much-loved band Lir will make a rare live appearance to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of their second album Nest this Friday in Dublin venue Whelan’s.
The Donaghmede act will perform the album, which includes fan favourite Halcyon Days, in its entirety and the show follows Lir’s Magico Magico show at the same venue in March 2019.
Lir were in the middle of several tours of the United States when Nest was recorded in Boulder, Colorado in 1995 by the late producer Rick Will and it was received very positively on both sides of the Atlantic at a time when the band were being tipped as the next big thing.
A thunderous live act with virtuoso flair (and white flares), back in the early to mid-nineties, the proudly retro five-piece were "the hottest band in Dublin" but ended up as one as one of the many nearly-men of Irish music.

In 2011, filmmaker Shimmy Marcus’s film Good Cake, Bad Cake brilliantly captured the sights, sounds and smells of the capital’s incestuous '90s scene in a perfectly-formed film about Lir's struggle for world domination.
Recently, the band’s song, Traveller, was selected to appear in season two of the popular Amazon Prime series Modern Love.
Special guests on Friday night will be Zamo Riffman and band. Tickets €20 can be purchased from the Whelans Live box office.
