Liam Neeson is to star opposite his lifelong friend Ciarán Hinds in the Ireland-set thriller In the Land of Saints and Sinners.
US entertainment trade publication Deadline, which first reported the story, says the film will reunite Neeson with The Marksman director Robert Lorenz.
"Set in a remote Irish village, Neeson will play a newly retired assassin who finds himself drawn into a lethal game of cat and mouse with a trio of vengeful terrorists," Deadline adds.
Filming is due to begin in Ireland in March 2022.

Neeson and Hinds previously co-starred in Martin Scorsese's Silence (2016) and John Boorman's Excalibur (1981).
Neeson recently told Ryan Tubridy on the Late Late Show that he is collaborating with historian Catherine Corless on a new film about the Tuam babies scandal.
"Hopefully, maybe in a year's time, we will start production on this to tell the story to the world," he said.
