Irish country music star Daniel O'Donnell is celebrating after his latest album has become a top five chart hit in the UK.

Daniel O'Donnell 60 has shot into the UK Album Chart at number 4 behind Coldplay, The Beatles and Adele.

The Donegal singer said he was "thrilled" with his continued chart success.

In a statement he commented: "I'm thrilled to be in the UK charts yet again after all these years recording.

"I cannot thank the fans enough for their loyal support over the years who have put me there."

The star Kincasslagh-born star, who is currently on tour in the UK, released the 15-track album on October 15 ahead of his milestone 60th birthday on December 12.

The first single to be released from the record is the tropical-themed slice of escapism Down at The Lah De Dah, which delighted fans with its tongue-in-cheek video.

O'Donnell has sold over 10 million records over the course of his 40-year career and continues to delight his loyal fans with his album releases and new tours.

In 2021, he broke his own world record by becoming the first recording artist to chart at least one new album each year in the Artist Albums Chart for 34 consecutive years.

His last release, Daniel, hit number 3 in the UK Charts last year, making it his highest ever Top 40 placing in Britain.
