Country music legend Dolly Parton has said she was "surprised" and "honoured" to discover Lil Nas X had covered her classic song Jolene.
The Old Town Road and Industry Baby star performed a downbeat, soulful rendition of the 1973 hit during a session for BBC Radio One's Live Lounge.
"I chose this because I feel like this song is kind of beautifully sad," he said when performing the song. "I like the little country twang, so I was like 'let me try this out'."
Reacting to the video, Parton shared a photo of her and Lil Nas X taken at the American Country Music Association Awards to Instagram and wrote: "I was so excited when someone told me that Lil Nas X had done my song "Jolene".
"I had to find it and listen to it immediately…and it’s really, really good. Of course, I love him anyway. I was surprised and I’m honored and flattered. I hope he does good for both of us. Thank you @lilnasx."
