Meath folk duo Waters Edge have released their debut single Call It Fate. We asked them the BIG questions . . .
Composed of twin sisters Katie and Aoife Lynch, their influences include The Staves, Phoebe Bridgers and First Aid Kit.
In 2019 the girls qualified for The Voice UK in 2020 and were successful in getting through the blind auditions and onto mentor Meghan Treanor's team for the battle stage.
In 2017 they began busking in Dublin and released an EP entitled Follow our Dream, which included two original tracks as well as some of their busking favourites.
Tell us three things about yourself?

We are twin sisters from Co. Meath, and we have been playing and creating music since a very young age. When we were younger, we hated singing with each other because as twins we shared everything, and we wanted to keep our music separate until one day we finally gave in and started singing together. Since then, we have gigged all around the country and even participated in The Voice UK in 2020.
How would you describe your music?
We would describe our music as indie pop although we do find it hard to put into one genre because we just create a sound we like instead of a specific musical vibe. We think our music has a raw emotional energy to it.
Who are your musical inspirations?
Our musical inspirations are definitely First Aid Kit, Hudson Taylor, and Hozier. First Aid Kit and Hudson Taylor have the sister/brother element we do, and we take a lot of inspiration from their use of harmonies and style. We also really enjoy Hozier's moody energy, and we think he is a lyrical genius.
What are you most looking forward to post-lockdown?
We are really looking forward to getting back into gigging. Our main thrill in life is performing on stage, nothing compares to live music! We also can’t wait for everyone to hear all of our lockdown tunes live.
What’s your favourite song right now?
This has to be the hardest question of all time but if we had to narrow it down, our favourite song would be I Lied by Lord Huron.
Favourite lyric of all time?
Our favourite lyric comes from Joni Mitchells Big Yellow Taxi and the line is "they took all the trees and put them in a tree museum and charged all the people a dollar and a half just to see them".
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life what would it be?
The one song we would listen to for the rest of our lives is In a Week by Hozier. To be honest, we could listen to anything by Hozier for the rest of our lives!
